Arden double majored in Biochemistry and Biology with an interest in both the genetic and non-genetic components of parental effects. She began volunteering in the Hopkins lab as a sophomore in February 2014, working for both Cathy Jachowski and Molly Thompson.

As a summer research technician, she worked with hellbenders by constructing and surveying nest boxes and handling male brooders. She also worked with snapping turtles; she trapped and processed females, collected nest data, and prepared equipment.

Arden has pursued her graduate study research at Purdue University.
