Sarah Winkowski majored in Fish and Wildlife Conservation at Virginia Tech. She became a volunteer research assistant in the Hopkins Lab in September 2014, where she assisted graduate students with their research projects for the next two years. She gained experience with animal care and handling, as well as data collection.
Upon graduation in 2016, Sarah worked as a Collections Manager at the Historic Smithfield Plantation. As part of her outreach responsibilities, she authored small grants to create and install new interpretive exhibits.
Sarah is passionate about studying the natural world and sharing that interest with others. In September 2017, she moved to Seattle and started graduate school at the University of Washington. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Museology.
